Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy

This short-term approach is designed to help individuals work through painful feelings that may have been suppressed due to their painful intensity. Humans may tend to ward off delving deep into their suffering if it is too painful to manage. I will guide and support you by focusing on transforming pain and suffering into hope and inspiration.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis

In this form of therapy, we will utilize the therapeutic relationship between therapist and patient to work on relieving symptoms by understanding and improving interpersonal functioning. In this form of therapy, psychological symptoms can be understood as a response based on past traumatic relationships that influence how one currently responds in relationships with other people. This form of therapy utilizes the therapeutic relationship to understand and work through repeating past traumatic relationships as well as the understanding of how one interacts and influences each other. By creating a safe space for exploration and growth, insight and healing may take place.

Relational Psychotherapy

We explore the mutual influence in personal growth and treatment, viewing our therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process that shapes both parties rather than viewing treatment as one-sided and linear. This specialty stems from theories on social constructivism, feminism, intersubjectivity, and attachment research.

Whether you are seeking to address specific challenges, enhance your relationships, or improve your overall well-being, I am ready to support you on your journey towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Medication

Based on your symptoms and diagnosis, medication may be indicated to lessen your suffering and help improve functioning. In conjunction with therapy, when medication is indicated, it often complements and makes the therapy more efficient. I use the analogy that when one has a tremor and is trying to learn how to weave, medication resolves the tremor, so that therapy may teach you how to weave. Depending on the diagnosis, medication and psychotherapy together may be considered the gold standard of treatment.

BREAK DYSFUNCTIONAL CYCLES

I feel treatment is best when you address and treat symptoms from all perspectives, including but not limited to medication and psychotherapy. Listening to patients in a non-judgemental way and understanding their symptoms is equally important. Fulfilling work life which is symptom-free and having healthy, loving personal relationships are some long-term psychotherapy goals which I strive to help my patients achieve through shared exploration and understanding. The majority of patients seek me because they feel that being both a holistic psychiatrist and a physician with deep experience allows me to address patient's biological and emotional needs and concerns in a holistic way.
